Hi guys new to the site. I have a 68 RR that Ive had since 1988. Im getting it back on the road and do want want the bias ply f70-14 redlines any longer. Want to go radial now. What size dimension am I allowded to go from on the stock 14 inch rim? I would like a wider tire for a better ride, handling, and appearance. Its a survivor car and a cruiser to car hops. I know I can get redline radials made up, but at $175.00 a tire, the blackwall look will surfice. Thank you

215/70R14 is the radial/modern equivalent to the F70-14 tires.  B.F.Goodrich Radial T/As come in that size and are readily available for about $120 each.  I am quite sure you could also go to a little bigger tire 225/70R14 with no problem.

No way. A 60 series on a 14" wheel is going to be too small of a diameter. The cars with 60 series tires had 15" wheels. If you go to a 60 series it would have to be 225/60-15. A 235/60-15 might be too close a fit and might rub, especially in the front.

Tire Size --- Diameter --- Width
215/70R14 --- 25.85" ----- 8.46"
225/70R14 --- 26.40" ----- 8.86"
225/60R14 --- 24.63" ----- 8.86"
225/60R15 --- 25.63" ----- 8.86"
235/60R15 --- 26.10" ----- 9.25"
