does any one remember or have these 1960's welded strokers?
I can recall the welded stroker cranks from California.,. they were a novel idea but unfortunately many of them broke, causing much engine damage.

amazingly today many vw 4-banger cranks are still turned into strokers with welding by dpr machine, and de mello to name two. also castillo crank service still does welded strokers for v-8's.
Garlits stroked his 392 in 1959 to 459 with a C&T kit. crank shops weld cranks to repair every day. Hamburger's 1983 catalog "welded stroker cranks have been used by many for years, when done properly are as strong as nonwelded forgings. ours are done by one of the oldest and best shops on the east coast. made from 318-3 truck forgings, submerged arc welded, heat treated, magnaflux inspected, shotpeened, and the rod journals are ground with full radius fillets". My 340 steel was welded in 1994 by an old crank expert, Ernie in Mass., for my 450hp street and strip car and still running fine
