Gentlemen:

In your January 2014 article “Long Winter Nap,” I did not see any mention of the proper type of coolant anti-freeze for classic open systems, i.e. Inorganic Additive Technology, as opposed to Organic Additive Technology, the choice of which will determine whether there will be a buildup of sludge in the cooling system.

Also, little attention is given to using motor oil off the shelf for classic flat tappet engines.  Un-be-known by many is the transformation of conventional oil that eliminates additives like zinc that spare catalytic converters but kill flat tappet cam setups.

Also, little attention is given to using gas with ethanol, its shelf life and failure to protect valves and valve seats.

Please have some concern for us guys from the 60’s.

Regards,
