I'am needing to know if my 1968 charger 318 v8 k-frame is the same as the one used with a 440 engine? I'am thinking the k-frame is the same and that the only difference is different motor mounts. I know they make conversion mounts for some appliciations but I don't know if I need them or not. I've looked at k-frames for sale on-line for big blocks and they look the same as my 318 v8 k-frame.I was thinking mabey I'am luckey and wom't need a different k-frame. I need to know what my options are, any help would be appreciated, thanks
yes.. you will need conversion mounts.. as there is a difference in the heights..the transmission bell housing is different..there are slant six with one bell housing pattern.., there are small blocks with the LA pattern which is what you have... there are big blocks with the B or RB pattern.do you have an engine already built.. there are lots of 440 engine builds spread out not just here in moparmusclemagazine.. but over in carcraft hotrod and popular hot rodding..i seem to recall that there may be an article here about changing the steering boxes for increased steering quickness..
Your 68 Charger K-frame is the same for both engines. All you need are a set of big block motor mounts for a 1968 era 440.
