I am installing an Edlbrock Thunder series carb on a 1974 Plymouth Cuda with a 360. The carb will not seat because it is hitting a vaccuum port on the left(drivers side) of the intake manifold(stock). I am already using the spacer plate that was under the stock carb. Not sure if I need an additional adapter plate or if I need to change intakes. Money is tight. How do I fix this?? Got no help the 1st time I posted, please offer a solution. Thanks
I think you'll need to take a digital photo of this and post it here. I don't think anyone knows exactly what you are talking about, unfortunately.
the EGR valve on a 360 is on the drivers side...his throttle lever is hitting it..usually a different manifold cures the issue..or putting the thermoquad back on... after going thru it.. there are still parts like the plastic float bowls still available new for those thermoquads.. the circuits in the thermoquad are very similar to the edelbrock ..were you able to call edelbrock tech support and ask them about this issue also..http://www.moparmusclemagazine.com/techarticles/engine/mopp_1304_rebuilding_a_carter_thermoquad_carburetor/viewall.htmlhere is a slightly different article on the thermoquadhttp://www.moparmusclemagazine.com/techarticles/engine/mopp_0501_tuning_the_carter_thermoquad_carburetor/viewall.htmlplease don't use the hammer as shown.. its only for smashing fingernails to aid in memory issues .. like.. remembering not to smash fingers with hammer..i have seen adaptors to move the EGR out of the way... and edelbrock shows some..i don't know if they will fit with your application.. or if you just need to make a block off plate.. for the EGR...please.. don't throw any of the parts you remove away... tag them and store them carefully.. you never know when you might want to go back to original.. or have the need to Ebay them.. pictures would be nice .. start a photobucket account.. its free.. upload them.. you can even do that with most smart phones..
