I get this 40,000 mile gem during the last quarter of 2011. I am the seoond owner. It had some scratches and chips in the paint but no rust and everything still works. It sat so long at the end that the front seal on the A/C compressor was slinging oil so I replaced it and cherged it with 134A. A couple weekends ago the passenger side caliper locked up and made for a scary experience. I changed out both of them and flushed out the old brake fluid.

Here are some of the facts. Shelby bought 1500 of them from Dodge. They come in white or red only. He ended up making 1472 them in 1989. He pulled the six cylinder and stuck a 5.2 liter V-8 in them. The condensor coil and radiator are slanted towards the front and there is a double pusher fan stuck in between them. Motor was rated at 175 hp and it has a 390 suregrip rearend with an A518 four speed overdrive tranny. It will smoke the tires down. Now for some pics.

Nice ride, it seems to be in a great condition. If you think this is rare in the States, try one over here in the Netherlands. Some ten years ago a friend of mine had one, same color, similar condition. I remember he sort of improved it or ruined it, depending on how you look at it. At one time he put in a 383 with a roller cam, custom made headers, 727 trans and Dana 60 rear end. I never thought it would fit in there, but he did it. He later sold it, now it has a 360 in it.
I suggest you keep yours original.

Yep I got it from Dallas. I had two problems with it so far mainly from setting for a long period of time. I had a caliper lock up so I replace both. I tried using the wind wipers this Saturday and had one of the bushings come loose I have it torn apart right now so I will post some pics tonight. It has 40670 miles on it and it is staying all original.

Here's some pic of the brake calipers that I replace. I made sure to paint them with Duplicolors Brake caliper paint. I made sure I drained out all of the old dot 3 fuild with some new fuild.

cool...

on the wiper bushings..    they are fairly easy to replace..   you will want to check the wiper arm shafts to verify they are not seized from sitting..

does happen..

please be sure to disconnect the battery completely before getting your hands in there or removing the wiper motor to get at the wiper transmission rods...   you can move the motor enough sometimes to cause it to attempt to PARK the wipers again..   with your hands right in the way..

I was on the way home from our monthly Mopar meeting this Sunday when it started to rain and I turned on the wipers only to here a thump and the wiper blades stayed straight up on the windshield. I knew what happened. Those same crappy windshield wiper linkage bushings. Well I read the factory service manual and it was straight forward. But as luck would have it I called the guy I bought it from Dallas Rice and he set me straight with removing the outside cowel. So I got it off. Today I used the satin black SEM color coat to paint he inside black cowel cover, the washer squiters and the pivots of the wiper brackets. They are all made out of plastic and were faded. Tonight I got most of it put back on and tested. Tomorrow night I will finish by installing the outside painted cowel cover.

Looks like it uses the same wiper bushings as on my '73 Dart...

Sure does. Got them in my 68 Dart. I think they ran the same ones until 1992. Four of them cost me $6.36 and they are in the help section of any good auto parts store. Made by Doorman.

Thanks, I did get it all back together last night and tested. Sure nice having smooth running wipers if you need them.

I had one of my A/C hoses blow out so I sent them out for repair. I got them back and charged the system. I got my A/C all back together and charged up. It was nice and cold but I had high head pressure. When the ambient air temp was high enough it would blow warmer. I blew the charge yesterday and removed the grill and condensor coil. I found the issue today. Not enough air being drawn accross the coil. Only one fan was functioning. It pulls 12 amps. I have a call in to some other Shelby owners as what to use as a replacement fan.
