It sure looks like the Magnum has the same pattern for the LA's 5 bolts. But they just added a few more for Magnum & Magnum valve covers. Anyone know for sure?

No they have different bolt patterns. Maybe I haven't tried to use a set of LA covers on  Magnums, who knows stranger thing could happen. But I don't think they will. I think the gasket rails on Magnum heads are closer together/narrower than the LA heads. Hey I've been wrong before.   Budnicks

I know the patterns are different, but I was thinking the 5 "LA" bolts might line up. Anyone know for sure?

The holes are not the issue. I just compared an LA and a Magnum cover, and the gasket-surface design is different. The Magnum style head has a squared front and rear edge, while the LA is tapered. This tapered edge will not allow the LA-style gasket to properly seal on a Magnum head. Sorry to be the bearer of bad news.
