Hello I was contemplating turning a 52 dodge Meadowbrook into a muscle car but was wondering if you guys could help me decide whether this would be a worth while project or a huge hassle. I am a noob and would be buying the parts and paying installation.

here are some links to 52 Meadowbrooks very much like mine in appearance and condition to give you an idea.

additionally here are the engine specs:

Any advice on my engine limitations? I'm not sure what is and what is not compatible as I expect that much of the existing plant would be replaced with new hardware. Does that open my options? Specifically some good engine recommendations would be helpful. I am looking to spend around 9k on the engine though haven't decided on diesel or gas but this car weighs a ton so I am thinking of at least a 400 hp engine.

The car came with a poor precursor to automatic transmission called fluid drive that I would want to swap out for a new either automatic or manual.

I also would like to add power steering, disc brakes.

I am also going to raise the chassis at least 6 inches so that it doesn't ride as low.

Anyway it would be great if some of you guys could offer opinions/comments and recommendations on strategy/engine types/transmissions etc for muscling up this "lead sled."
