I've tried Pheonix graphix and a bunch of other places and I'm losing hope that I can find a place to re create the stripe available only in 1975-1976 on all dusters. It was a two tone stripe, whiite on the inside and bordered with a black outline. It looks like it was a few different pieces... I was told by one graphics place who was extremely helpful in assisting me with the research that it would be too difficult and costly to reproduce. HOW COULD SOMETHING ACCOMPLISHED IN 1975 BE HARDER TO PULL OFF NOW? If anyone has insight, I'd be most grateful!
Because when Mopar had these made they made hundreds, or thousands of them. Unfortunately, there are very few people restoring '75-'76 Dusters, so there is almost no demand for these stripes. It CAN be done, but like anything else custom-made in very small quantities, it's going to be very expensive. Year One has some stripes for '75-'76 Dusters but I just looked at the catalog and there are none that are black & white. Even the monotone ones they sell are over $200 though.
I actually HAVE a set of these original stripes that I attempted to get reproduced, without any luck.About 10 years ago,I had brought the whole set (fenders, doors, quarters, and upper and lower rear deck stripe) to Phoenix graphix to have them reproduce them and make them available to everybody.Being nice, lets just say that they blew it.They had my original set for about 2 months, and after promising to be ever so careful with this extremely rare original set, ended up putting a couple of staple holes in a quarter panel stripe, and finally decided that they would need to paste the originals onto a flat and remove the masking tape to make the reproduction - thus destroying the originals.I had also provided them with pictures of original vehicles with these stripes which they promptly posted on their website - offering this stripe set for sale even before they had reproduced it.After learning the original stripes would have to be compromised,I picked them back up and have not made any further attempts at reproducing them.I can tell you that they are made on an off white scotch cal material with the black portion actually printed or silk screened onto the white material.I have a few photos of actual cars with this stripe and the original 1975 dealership duster booklet showing this stripe on the duster 360 option. You could probably use pics like this to paint a similar stripe.Do you own an original 1975 Duster 360?ScottMesa,Arizona
Did you try year one?
Since these stripes were originally only used on less than 2500 cars, they have NEVER been reproduced.I made an attempt to get my original NOS set reproduced with Phoenix Graphix, but they really dropped the ball and I just ended up throwing them back into the email@example.com
Here's an image of the side stripe.http://memimage.cardomain.com/ride_images/1/1041/381/2600190001_large.jpg
Here was the ad from Phoenix Graphix.
Some of the actual stripes made in 1974.
A closeup of the actual colors. Hope this helps!
Dear Forum,Phoenix Graphix will gladly reproduce this stripe kit; given a second chance. Previously we were unable to produce a high quality, 2-color kit at a reasonable price. That has changed and welcome your assistance to help bring back the availability of this kit and all its historical significance. Please contact us if the originals shown here are still available. Thank you. 480-941-4550. Phoenix Graphix.
I have been searching for these stripes for years! I hope the owner of these stripes still has them and can work something out with you guys to reproduce them for those of us that need them to complete a restoration. Please keep me informed if these become available!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Surprisingly,I do still have a complete original stripe set for the '75 Duster 360.I also did make contact with Phoenix Graphix; but at this time,it doesn't look very promising that this kit will be available anytime soon. They just aren't willing to invest anything into the project other than their time.Best offer was for a free stripe kit when reproduced - of which I already have an original one... I have diligently looked for "spares" to this kit for about 15 years now and am convinced that another complete kit does not exist. From time to time,a stripe does surface, but it is always the front fenders and the right rear quarter. The other 5 stripes to the set NEVER do.
How sad a company that claims to have every stripe wont do the right thing by you. It screws the rest of us that want this stripe kit of ever finding one. Had they done the right thing this conversation would exist and id be happy with a completely restored stripe kit on the car. You have had better luck then I have. I never found any of the stripe kit. I did talk to a graphics place several years ago and they said they can make a stripe close to what was on the car just from pictures so I may have to go that route but it wont be the same
