i seen a show on last night (rides on tlc) and the co star corey from overhaulin' is a big fan of mopar. write of the bat in the begining they were showing a 1970 340 baracuda and a 1970 challenger t/a red (favorate color of that car) and said they were we\orth 600.000 origanal mint condition. but anyhow when a mopar came on the show he always refered to them as the "mighty mopar"and "the offical kings of the road"nothin could touch mopar back then. when he said ford or chevy there was no enthusiasm even now with the stage 2 neon srt-4 running 13.4 in the 1/4. nuttin can touch it in its class. and the commercial for the new jeep hemi beating an audi a6 amd a vovlo and someother trash car,the point is with that commercial is an suv stoping sports cars all the way around.

facts. the 230 block early 400 with the 1.350 main webbing was the strongest factoryblock ever built and can handle 900 hp with nothing more than main studs and aluminum caps, the mighty 440 webbing is a measley .375 except some early engines that had .575 webbing, the 383 webbing is kaka and only has .290 material surrounding the shell.all can make over 650 hp but need block filler, studs, new caps and a girdle, the 630 400 is easy to find and has .575 aroundthe mains the later 530 has between .525 and ,575 , you have to measure, the 400 is best in my view as its short stroke and big bore make a kik as. stroker whereas the 440s deck height is .745 taller than the 400 meaning 3.75 stroke to 4.15 stroke is gona save a hellof a lot of internal weight,im into big blocks , you small blockguys need to do your homework and find whats best for yall I run a 0.60 440 76 block with ,575 webbing, ya gotta check and measure. I know a guy in ga that runs 5.10s in the 1/8th running a 340.stock block? doubt it. most of these 30 plus year old engines have cycled out so use new rods, crank, heads and such as its not worth throwing a rod thru the block as you dont know how many cycles it has on it, normally 10 million is max but who knows what them rods you just bought used have for cycle life? do a lil research before building a race engine.no offense against small blocks but its always good to know before you build, are 360 main webbing more than 340s?.wont know til you measure and the thicker the better, this is all imo...take care

All I gotta say to the *** talkin 'g*y rod magapuke' *** is who holds the record in G/stock?, A demon or a duster maybe? A 340 maybe and what does it run against? A 396 camero POS with fac aluminum intake 4spd. 275 HP 340? Does any one else know that the NHRA rates the 340 @ 325HP? I wonder what they rate the six pack 340 @ ?
