I would. As a matter of fact i am. Keisler Auto makes it easy and has a lot of options to choose from. You'll get better acceleration because of the lower gearing, and you'll also have that overdrive gear for cruising to keep the RPMs down. I've been researching this swap for about a year now and it's perfect minus the fact that it's expensive.

It all really comes down to preference. I prefer a standard over an automatic, its just more fun to me to drive.

If I were a machine, I'd be a lot happier.

thanks Duster,

You're about the only one that replies !!

Anyway - here in Australia, the Tremec 5 speed can handle 475 ft lbs of torque which is what I really need. There are cheaper here - the T5 for example...it would handle my horsepower - but it's the torque of the 360 that has me concerned.

Yes, price is big. I have just spent around $20,000 on my resto, it's travelled 1500 miles (2800km +/-) so another $4500 right now is a little stretched...

Another good thing too is that my rear is current 2.92:1 - and with the 5 speed, I could go 3.23:1 or 3.50:1 - and still have my highway rpm similar to now at 1 to 1.

There is a place here in Sydney that specialises in the bell housing, clutch & pressure plate, rear yolk etc - just have to source a balanced 360 flywheel - anyway Duster - that's the plan.

cool. these are good people too. I met them here in Pennsylvania last July at Chryslers at Carlisle and boy they really know what they are doing. If the price for the 5 speed is a bit much...i know they also do complete swaps with a833 trannys and if you've got that higher gearing in the rear end that might work for you too.

If I were a machine, I'd be a lot happier.
