HOWDY... I'm a 15 year old girl and I love dusters. a lot. is that normal?? There was a Gold duster living near me once and i'd whisper "my precious" every time we drove past it. Then the owner sold it for less than 1,500 bucks. I was really sad when it moved. I'm the founder and president of "the official duster club" and the only members are my two friends. and they don't even know what dusters are. sigh... Its pretty pathetic. i'll probably never own a duster. I was thinking i should take some kinda class so if i did ever get one i could restore it and stuff but.. that looks too hard for my likings. so well... are they hard to find or anything?? write back i need to hear about dusters!! bye. --elizabeth

Hello Elizabeth your on the right track with your love for dusters! They are very cool cars and not hard to find. Have you ever seen or heard of a feather duster (very cool lite weight version of the duster)? There are a lot of different dusters, gold dusters, duster twisters and my favorite the 340 duster. If you can find some type job and save your money you will be able to buy a nice duster by the time your 18 that won't need alot of work! Stay cool in school and go for your dreams.
Your New friend: goatheat
PS. How can I join your cool duster lovers club.

I went to toys r us a couple of weeks ago and I found a tiny little lime green diecast duster. It wasn't hotwheels.. it was "johnny lightning" and they had a little collection called " MOPAR or NO CAR" they were pretty neat. you can check em out at http://www.playingmantis.com/jl/products_details.php?productid=286 I think that'll take you there... well catchya later!!! --Elizabeth

Elizabeth, my hat goes off to you. I am 40 and I like dusters too. I just happen to like Cuda's and Challengers a little bit better. I almost bought a Duster 5 years ago but it needed too much work for me to invest the time and money into. So I waited, and I fell into a Challenger project. My new friend, I am sure that your Dad has told you this before, but I will tell you it to you anyway. At 15 you are too young to worry about what you CAN'T do. You can do ANYTHING you set your mind to. Just remember that and Sweetie, you will have that duster. They are common here in the NW so keep that in mind, when you decide it is time. Just keep thinking Mopar or No Car. I wanna join you club TOOOO!!
Sincerely,
Gipperco

teehee... Thanks gipperco!! and welcome to the duster club... All this encouragement really means a lot... now i'm really wanting to get a job.. haha. i don't even know how to drive! everyone is getting their license right when they turn 16 but I think I'll have to wait until I'm 18. But I'm totally cool with it because I'd rather wait til i get my duster than drive my parents mazda mpv... haha. I really hate that van.
and.. now i got a question about learning on shift or automatic... my dad says its easier to learn shift if its the first way you learn, but my friend says its super hard... which do you think would be better to learn on??
thanks again... --Elizabeth

Well as much as you probably don't want to hear it. Your Dad is right. It is better to learn how to drive in a stick because once you learn how to drive a stick you can drive anything. An automatic is definetly easier to learn how to drive in but remember easiest isn't always the best. My advice, coming from a Dad, listen to yours and he will never lead you astray. you may not always like what he is telling you but it is usually for a good reason. Maybe he can even help you out with your Duster project. Good luck and be good.

Hi there my name is janice and I am the vice president of the Cumberland Valley Mopar Car Club based in London, KY. I love your interest in mopars and yes the dusters are cool. My husband in fact loves dusters too and his favorite of all car is the 1970 340 duster. We own several mopars: I have a 1978 Richard Petty Plymouth Volare Street Kit Car, 1983 Dodge Diplomat Police Car, my husband has a 1971 Plymouth Roadrunner, and my stepson has a 1965 Plymouth Barracuda. We did have five dusters at one time that my husband was working on putting one together with. So as you can see they are not hard to come by. And in fact we my have paid about $300.00 for all five. They are very reasonably priced right now. Especially the slant six cars. So at fifteen years old you have your whole life ahead of you and you can accomplish anything you want. So keep on thinking MOPAR OR NO CAR. And keep up the girl power for MOPARS. If you want you can check out our club web site at: http://home.earthlink.net/~valleymopar/
You can email me at: valleymopar@earthlink.net and I can tell you a lot more about Mopars. Maybe sometime you can get your dad to take you to a Mopar Car Show or even a Mopar Nationals Show so you can check out all the mopars and you can even see a lot of all the cool dusters.

Hi, I am just turning 15 and have had mopar fever since I was about 9. I first got hooked on dusters when my cousin bought a toy model of one and needed me to help him put it together. When I was 9, my uncle, who i lived right down the street from, often had me come over and help him with his corvette and camaro...but my favorite of his cars were the two 1970 chargers he had for his next project. He was the reason I got hooked on cars and I thank him every day. Right now I am working on obtaining a 1974 duster that is for sale. Yes, I know the 74s are not as good as the 72s but I'm going to put a lot of work into it to make it worth another look for the people I drive by in it. The car right now has a 318 in it which is small but reliable so I might keep it till I get enough for a 440 which I must have in it. I am also toying with the idea of putting a shaker hood scoop on it...what do you think? And I'm having trouble deciding what color to paint it...I'd love your suggestions and comments. Thank you!

That's Awesome..... let me tell you my story..... when I was 15 there was this guy who lived down the street with a Yellow 73 Duster that would always drive by and make a lot of noise. Everytime I saw that car I loved the way it looked and sounded. Well when I turned 16 Guess what my first car was..... yep a 73 Duster. I fixed that car up as best as I could with my part time job and it turned out pretty good. I rebuilt the 318 Engine I took night classes at the college where I could use the equipment to machine the block , rebuild the heads resize the rods.I bought a nice four barrel Intake and carb, nice cam and headers. I put in a bigger rear end, got the car painted and put on some Alluminum Slotted Mags, 50's in the rear and 70's up front. The car looked great and was on the road when I turned 17.One of the best looking cars at my Highschool Auto Class. I drove that car for 5 years and then I tucked it away in Storage indoors. Guess what I still have that car today and I am 46 years old now. I have had this car for 30 years now. I have finally brought it home and it now sits in my garage, yes I am going to get it back on the road, this time I have a 340 Engine Built with a Sixpack. I will get it repainted and install a Sixpack hood scoop and redo the interior.I will also replace all the suspension. I CALL IT THE SECOND COMMING!
Keep your dream alive and I hope this has inspired you.
I still have not let go of my dream......

My Duster is Blue with a Blue Interior, I am going to get it repainted the same color and keep the Interior Blue. I'm planning on getting a fiberglass hood with a Sixpack Hoodscoop and I'm thinking of painting the hood Black and then get the 340 Black Stripe on the side from back to front.( original stripe). I'm sure your dad will love to show you how to fix up your car. I started working on cars when I was sixteen and loved it. Take your time and remember SAFETY FIRST...

Yea, safety is always important, and dude, is your's petty blue? cause thats the color of mine but it has a vynal top. I want to get a black stripe coming from the black part of the vynal down the flat part where the window and the door connect, its like a flat groove maybe 3 inches wide, but i want that to be black and it will flow into the hood which will eventually be black also. If it was a 340 then i probably would get the 340 stripe too, it fits the car so well!! good luck with your car

Count me in on your club too! I'm 17 and I own a numbers matching 71 340 4spd with b5 blue paint. Also on your question about the auto or stick. If you don't know how to drive a stick well, get an auto as your daily driver. I learned on a brand x truck with a 3 on the tree and burnt the clutch up twice in two years. I wAs ten just driving around the farm but I learned quick that it's best to have an auto for an inexperienced driver. Hope ya get ya a cool duster! Seth
