hi my father and i have recently found a car located in a farmers barn and at the moment its covered in manure. At this point All we have be able to access it the engine compartment but its also partly filled. all we have seen so far is 6 carbs and the front grill is gone but there is no front divider so im geussing its a 68 from that. but what im looking for in vin numbers,could it be a hemi?, there is also an opening in the hood possibly a shaker was there at one point? and any other infoyou guys have access to about 68,69's.

Chargers didn't come with hood scoops. you can tell by the VIN on the dash. I'll have to ask which number identifies the year built. Look at the taillights, 2 round ones =68, long =69.

Two other aspects of difference between 68 & 69 Chargers are that the side marker lights for the 68 are round. If the car is still covered, look at the front fenders. 68 was the only year Mopar used round lenses. Otherwise they will be rectangle. Secondly the 68 inner door lock knobs were placed closer to the back of the door edge than the 69 which made break ins very easy. They moved them further away from the door/rear side window gap to help prevent theft.
