05 Charger is a Bust

Mopar fans:
I just read that Chrysler execs are getting thousands of negative e-mails concerning the new Charger. I think they are starting to listen. Rumor ha it that they are allready working on a Nascar edition Charger. We need to continue writing them to demand that the Charger be changed. also see paragraph below.
Have you seen the new Chrysler "Firepower" (You can do a search to see what it looks like) introduced at Detroit Auto show a few weeks ago. I think it's pretty cool, but CHryslers' bean counters have it wrong once again. They plan to introduce it as a $50,000+ car to dual "head to head" withn the Corvette (I thought that's what a Viper was for). So here we are onnce again...The 2005 Charger is nothing more than a "Sport Fury" aka: KGB staff car and they are going to sell the Firepower in the range of $ 50-60,000 to compete with the Vette.
I think the Firepower should be renamed as a "Hemi-Cuda" and downgraded to a price range of $30,000 to compete head to head with the Mustang crowd. The Firepower would kick A--, hands down. In all honesty, do you think they are going to sell many "Firepowers" if they keep the current price structure and nameplate???
We need to unite and express our opinions to Chrysler corp at their web site (They have a question/comment section). They do listen to people, especially if enough express the same opinion,
here are the instructions:
1) Go to following Link: Chrysler.com
2) Go to bottom right side of page and click: (contact us)
3) Scroll to bottom of page and clickI need customer Assistance) "They allow you to voice concerns about products here".
4) Click (send us and e-mail)

Good luck,
Mike

P.S. I HAVE DONE MY PART AND WRITTEN THEM WITH MY OPINION AND YES, I TOLD CHRYSLER THAT THE NEW MUSTANG IS QUITE TEMPTING TO BUY DESPITE THE FACT THAT I HAVE ONLY OWNED MOPARS

Goatheat:
I agree the Daytona & SRT are a lot nicer, but they still don't deserve the Charger nameplate. I predict that Damlier Benz will sale Chrysler in the next few years (DC stock has not preformed like it was expected to when Benz Merged with Chrysler Corp.). Hopefully a group of Americans will buy Chrysler and get it back on track and make it the Engineering marvel and cutting edge car company of "days long gone by".

i have to agree on that mike americans know what they like. The benz side of it has its ups and downs but i just don't like the bodystyle enough for them to be called a charger

I don't think DCX will listen to the petitions, because, quite frankly, you guys wouldn't be thier target audience anyway!

The poeple that will buy this thing are the types in the demograph (read, age, money) that would buy a BMW or Merc as well.

"Our" demograph DCX has completely buttonholed into the Big Truck market, the full size ram mostly.

I bet the charger sells just fine.

I do not agree on the demograph argument. I fall in their "target" group and wouldn't buy this ulgy Dodge wannabe on a wiskey bet!!!

Mike ; I just got this cheezy e-mail from Dodge. They say that they have 20,000 orders for the new "not Charger"! Can you believe that with all the hipe they only have 20,000 orders! I can see this ship sinking fast! I e-mailed them back and told them they should name it the diplomat and told they not to look for my name on an order for a "not Charger".

If they built the 98 or 99 concept Charger it would sell even with out the Hemi. They changed the design so they could run it in that wussy sport called "NASCAR". NASCAR has nothing to do with manufactuers anymore so why race in it. NASCAR says they make these new rules to make it cheaper for low buck teams to compete. If they want to make it cheaper then have teams start using factory sheet metal such as door skins, fenders, hoods, deck lids, and the main body as they are from the factory. They should also make the teams use production heads and blocks which means Dodge would then be able to run the new Hemi. With the use a production heads and blocks speeds will be reduced. This will make NASCAR a manufactures race once again not a "Cry Baby Race". If a group of cars (chevy/ford) find they are not fast enough to compete they will have to just build a better car or engine or both. I bet the Viper GT Racer could go head to head with a NASCAR car and kick its butt.

the first concept was a lot better looking but it was still a four door and the charger should never be a four door. and the nascar charger looks like a karp! lol

i am new to this board, but i wanted to get my two cents in on the new dodge charger.

it seems that we are in agreement that the new charger is a far cry from the prototype that was featured in most mopar magazines in the past few years.

i think may the mother company dimalierchrysler does not understand the history of our beloved american mopars.

maybe we need to send them a message that they are missing the boat with their american mopar supporters.  ford sure got it right with their new mustang.  i hear through the grapevine that gm is thinking of coming out with a restro 60's style camero for 07'.  why not chrysler bringing back a restro challenger, they have the hemi enginer that would be awesome in.  lets get the ball rolling, voices together will get it done.  mopars forever!!!

the thing is d c could give a rats butt what the Mopar loyal have to say or think for that matter. they think every one should jump through their butt just because the new hemi is in some shapeless POS four door, and you can't even get a manual trans.

I heard that the first week that DC had released pics of the New Charger (aka: Sport Fury). They received over 300,000 negative e-mails. I think 20,000 orders for the FAX Charger is a joke!

I agree with goatheat the name should be diplomat, the Sport Fury was a very sharp two door veryant of the Fury and this thing is anything but.

Just for grins:

The Dodge dealer across the street from me just got in a Cool Vanilla "Charger".  It stickers for about $32K.  THEN they tack on a $5k "Market Allowance"  trying to make a bigger buck.  Let's see how long it lasts on the lot.  I don't think I'd want a 40k 2 ton barge (that GT500 looks like it's worth waiting for...)
