I have a 474 stroker in my 71 duster drag car.  I have no #'s on it in terms of Hp and torque.  I was wondering if anyone else has one of these stroker kits and if so what kinda of power does your motor make.  I know that the cam and carb and all that other stuff make a differance but I would like to know the #'s are anyway with what ya all are running.

What does that have to do with the price of tea in China?

Have you raced this thing yet?  We can find out if we have your weight of the car with you in it, the mph, that will give us the rear wheel horsepower.

My best guess is that the car tips the scales at about 4000lbs w/ me in it.  The rear gear is a 5.30 w/ 31x16 slicks street is a 33x19.5.  ONe of the wheels has written on it in Sharpie "653hp" whether or not that  is a real # I do not know. They guy we bought it from says he ran 9.90's @ 140 Something and he weighted about 450lbs and had a whole bunch of Mickey Mouse things on the car that we fixxed.  The car is full metal car w/ a full frame and 14 point cage in it so... it is not a light car but with the motor out I can pick up the front of the car.

If you were thinking, you wouldn't of thought that.

Can you weigh this thing?  Most A-body's weigh around 3100lbs. The 1000lbs difference is like comparing a Hugo to a Mack truck. Let's just say it weighs 4000lbs, and it really goes 140mph at the end of the 1/4.  You would have roughly 856hp at the rear wheels. The best thing to do is run this thing down the quarter so you could base line this thing, or, take to a chassis dyno shop, which is worth the 150.00 bucks! People sell horsepower numbers to sell their product. Lets run it down the track to see if you got a good buy... See ya'

Wow!  Do you think that this motor can put out that much power?  that seems like quite a bit for a sinlge carb motor.  what about 3600lbs w/ the Driver @ the same speed?

What is math to get these numbers?  I will see what I can do I can do to weigh her.  Thank you!

If you were thinking, you wouldn't of thought that.

Well, lets just say you need to run it at the track and we'll go from there. You can go to Prestage.com to get your numbers.

A 474 Stroker should produce more HP than a 496, Smaller rod journals are the key. I have seen numbers in the range of 675hp with a roller cam.

Our guess is 675hp at the tire.  She runs a 9.998 in the 1/4 for a car that is 3800lbs so she has to have lots of power to hustle that fast.  although 5.30 gears help alot.
