Is anyone familiar with the 315 V8?  Will  318 parts bolt to it?  I am wondering about headers, intake manifolds ect.

I just bought a 56 Dodge pick up.  It came with the 315.  I am trying to decide if I should rebuild that or swap it out for a more common small block.  Parts availabilty will probably be the deciding factor.

Hi, as far as I Know the 315 "Poly" shares parts with the 325 and 331 polyspherical engines. LA 318 parts are not interchangeable.

i'm guessing your meaning the 318 Poly   the crankshaft, rods, and pistons are the same stroke and dimensions used in the 318 LA ; the block is alot beafier block it can also be used; however the bolt pattern for the trans is different.

to use the 318 LA heads on a 318 Poly you have to change cam, pushrods, lifters, and intake to the LA style setup
