i have a 1983 dodge diplomat with a 225 slant six in the vehicle right now. about 2 months ago i bought a 340 out of a 72 duster to put in the diplo for $200.got the engine all in pieces needs rebuilt, got everything but intake, carb, and harmonic balancer. i am alos planning on throughing a six pack on as well but not sure cause of clearance issues, gotta do some math before spending money, but the six pack is a deffinate want. i need ideas for what to use for a tranny, drive shaft, and axle, i also bought hood scoops off a 72 dart swinger 340 (twin scoops, fiberglass) and would like ideas or suggestions on how to make a ram air kit for this. plans for the car for looks are drop an 1 1/4 in the front and an inch in the back, not sure what tire width or how tall the side walls are going to be, but was thinkin about 16 inch american racing rim torque thruster. paint is prowler orange pearl metallic, i'm going to put a butt stripe on it(stripe rapping quarter panels and trunk, and will say diplo 340 in the regular print dodge used) and not sure yet but was thinking about an a body go go wing for the back still thinking on the wing though may be too much. tell me what you think and will greatly appreciate answers for the questions listed. it will be a big help. i know theres someone out there that has some mopar tricks in there sleaves.

I have a 1980 diplomat. I put a 360 in it, I used a 904 tranny w/ a mild shift kit, and b & m 2800 stall converter. As for the rear axle I used a 8 3/4 rear out of a 65 Plymouth Belvedere with 3:91 gears. It was about 1 inch narrower than the original, but everything worked great. My engine is bored 30 over, flat top pistons, 268 degree,456 lift cam, a m-1 dual plane intake w/ a holley 750 vacum secondary carb, and the heads were ported by myself. It ran a 14.1 in the 1/4 mile. I still use the original ralley style wheels with 275 60 r15 tires in the back and 215 70 r15 in the front. Hope this helps.
