The poly made only 290 horses in a 59 Fury with two fours. I have a poly in a 66 Coronet with a 727 and 8 3/4  it has been bored .030 with a aluminum highrise  and a Edelbrock 600 and a Chris Nielson cam. Electronic ignition has been added and then then whole thing was chromed out the wahzoo. It is plenty fast and its  shiny...

i need a hp 318 for my truck cause i stand alone with a dodge in a school of chevys fords toyotas and hondas i have a really sweet purple (a little darker than plum crazy with all different colors of metal flake) 1965 dodge D-100 pickup short box step-side the box is purple with black fenders the engine has 300,000 miles and runs like a top but doesn't have enough soup i need some serious balls but i want the original or a poly engine in it i have a cast iron 4brrl with original carb real nice shape i picked it up for $20 bucks and the dual Quad is also cast i picked that up for $100 so i'll probably stick with the single 4 cause i have to drive it to school (a little better on gas than a dual) but i was challanged to a lagit race for pink slips against a kid with a very nice 87 s-10 with a pretty healthy 350 it's got 18x11's in the back and the front 18x9's and i want it to sell for more parts so i need to beat him it's not a 1/4 mile it's a race on an old highway that harldy anybody ever uses with fairly sharp curves and stuff my pickup has a straight axle in the front but i installed a sway bar off of a camper special and a rear sway bar off a 67 belvedere cop car. right now i have been pulled over for doing 90 in a 45 cause i was late a different time  i tried outrunning the cops i had lost them but went back into town cause i had to pick my mom up from work and guess where she works yep the same building as the city police go figure   i have the seat out of a 98 ram and i'm working on the dash either push button or the lever on the right side of the steering wheel but i'd really like to have th o/d unit    when i was doing 90 i was driving it at what sounded to be a safe rpm but it's got 14's all the way around and 3:55 posi in the back  soon to be changed to a 3:23 and 15's  o by the way do you have or kniow any body that has some 15x7 and 15x9 five slotted aluminum mags for sale pretty cheap or some 16's that are 5 0n 4 1/2 bolt pattern? any ways thanks.  take it easy

Please do your self and every one a favor don't run this race!! Any thing can happen and you would be sorry if you lost your truck or killed some one! The track is the place to race not the street even on a little used hi way. Please think about it. You have been in to much trouble already!

I would take your racing to a drag strip. cars... just don't shorten your life just to prove a point. I used to run the drags in the 60's and 70's and did not have to worry about running over someone crossing the street.  have fun and read some back issues of Mopar Muscle. They built a really strong Poly about 6 months ago.  Have fun..... but ,be careful where you have it!!!

Honest, unless your restoring something that actually came with a poly your probably waisting your time. Been the not so proud owner of two poly motors, I found them slow, heavy and hard to get parts for. This motor was replaced with the LA series for a reason.
How slow? 18 seconds in the quarter in a 65 Sport Fury slow. And that was with a four barrel and dual exhaust.

Hmmm.....wonder why it's so slow?  I have a '64 poly 318 with dual quads, dual exhaust, 4 speed and 3.91 open gears in my '59 Plymouth Suburban (2 Dr Wagon).  I made 4 passes a couple years ago on skinny street tires and it did a best of 15.59.  With the new meats I have on it now, it'd probably get to the mid 14's.

drmopar is right on! The cost plus availability of parts is is the issue.
Can you say Boat Anchor?
