Did Plymouth make a 1967 Valiant with a 273 4 bbl. Commando engine.
My father used to race a 1967 Plymouth Barracuda Fastback, 273 4bbl, Commando, 4-speed from 1968 thru 1972, at Dover Drag Strip, Wingdale, NY. The car was NHRA classified in J/Stock (68' and 69'), K/Stock (70' and 71'), and L/Stock (72').
I remember a 67' Valiant with a 273 4 bbl. that ran a class under my fathers, I/Stock in 68' and 69', due to the lighter weight.
I haven't been able to locate anyone with a 273 4bbl. Valiant Commando. If they did exist, how many were made. The reason I'm asking is because I have located a white 67' Valiant, 4-speed car. The motor and exhaust system have been removed. The owner (85 year old, original owner) is not sure if it had a 273 4bbl. Commando motor. He sold the motor back in 1975 (32 years ago). The car is equipped with an 8 3/4 3.55 posi. He said he ordered it that way because he towed his boat with the car. Yes the tow hinge assembly is mounted on the car. He stopped driving the car in 1972, and parked it in his barn. A few years later a friend of his needed a motor for his 66' Barracuda, and the motor was yanked and sold for $150, with the exhaust system.
Again, did Plymouth offer or make a 67' Valiant with a 273 4 bbl. Commando, and if made, How many were produced? How many 4-speeds?
Yes I own a 69 M-Code 440 Cuda', with all original parts and matching #'s. No the fenderwells were not cut out for headers, I stopped my father from butchering the car.

I happen to be looking at an actual sales brochure for 1967 Plymouth Valiants, and it was offered with a 273, four barrel, Commando engine. You could also get either an automatic, or a four speed transmission. Unfortunately, I can't find any production numbers about how many were made. Not many people tracking those numbers for Valiants.
Sometimes you just gotta say...
