Hey Everybody,

I'm currently restoring a 73 Charger and am  in the process of rebuilding the front end.  I've dropped the K-member and noticed that the rear mounting surface on the K-member is rotted.  The holes in wich the bushings pass through are circular but rotted.  The new bushings i have are keyed like an oval with two flat sides, and my question is .....are the holes in the k-member suposed to be this shape or are they just circular?  Also, I spunn one of the bolts trying to remove one of these rear k-member mounts...and assume that must now cut the frame and reweld a nut inside the frame.  Any comments or help would greatly be appreciated.

Thanks for the time.

My son and I are restoring his 73 Charger and did a rebuild on the K-member.  The four attach holes were oval shaped and we bought new bushings which came with an oval cutout that passed through the hole.  Make sure that the rust you see isn't from the old bushing that has fused to the k-member.  We had to chisel ours off but it opened up and popped off.

Not sure what to do about the spun bolt (how did you get the k-member off if it spun?).  There may be a repair but I'm not sure on that.  I can send a picture of our assembly/disassembly if you drop me your e-mail at hiznherzhogs@comcast.net.
