Ok,heres the scoop.I was looking in a local trader magazine and found a 71 dodge colt 4 door.It has a hipo 273 engine with wiseco pistons,10.5 to 1.Mopar .484 hyd cam, steel crank, and an LD 340 aluminum intake. The rear is a narrowed 8 3/4 with 4.10 gear.It has a winters built 904,manual valve body, converter stall unknown. The shifter is a winters, never saw one of these before. It has big street slicks in back and skinnies up front.Has a roll bar, drum brakes on all 4 wheels. The car is painted a glitter green. The guy is asking $3500 but cash talks.I dont think its worth the money and I personally would pull the engine, transmission and reseal both.I would also weld the rear doors to make it a 2 door.It sounds strong and does run. I dont know what this things worth but im gonna offer the guy $1500 and see what he says.$2000 max is what I will pay for the car.Thye guy seems to think this lil 273 is special because it came out of a 67 barracuda and states the previous owner has 7k in the engine alone, zzzz.Any words of wisdom?
if someone was to offer me $1500.00 for that car i would be insulted and would tell ya to take a hike, just the parts alone are worth more than $1500.00 the guy would be better off parting it out than let you have it!
That so? Maybe the cars a pos. What parts are worth $1500 to you? If the guy still has the car Ill part it out to you.Ill sell the heavily leaking center section to you.Ill throw in the Ld 340 intake for $1500.Its such a piece of junk I wouldnt give $1500 for it but Ill buy it and sell it to you for $3000. There are no high dollar parts, its a 300 hp 273 in a crappy body that cant even do a burnout but spews water from the heat risers in the heads. So tell me what parts are worth $1500 to you? Ive looked at it. You want to buy it? Mind your own beeswax.
Ill give you $1500 for your swinger.
$1500.00 wouldnt even get ya a look at my car! you asked for my opinion ya got it!
I asked for discussion, not an opinion of me based on what you may perceive me to be.
I pay according to what my eyes see,do you pay for the grand vision you have of the car in your mind? By the way,its a buyers market.
you said you didn't know what the car was worth, what i see by your post there still seems to be a lot of good parts on that car, the tranny with a mannual valve body and torque converter must be worth something, the narrowed 8 3/4 is worth something and the rearend could very well be a posi if it is it certainly is worth something, leaky or not. yeah i agree that a 273 is less than desirable but it sounds strong, (in your words) how good are the tires? if they appear in good shape they are also worth something. and my car did start out as a grand vision in my mind. and yes i agree i didnt see the car for myself so i have to take your word for it, the way you discibed it it sounds like a ratty piece of *&it. i apoligize if i sounded like i was attacking you as a person.
Offer him $1,500 see what he says...You'll be surprised....BTW Driving a colt with that engine, gears etc. with DRUM BRAKES is...ummmmm scary!
Did they make a 4-door Colt in 1971?
yes they did.
Got the colt for $1200.Patience is a virtue.
Disc up front 11.5 drums out back.
That sounds like a Colt listed on Craigs list near TriCities area Tn
Would you call your grandparents clunkers because their old ?
