i have a set of 308 castings which have been ported and have ss 2.02/1.60 valves for my 360 build. my question are the RHS heads worth using instead of these? will they make more power? are they worth the money? thanks

The $1500.00 question. When you say more power, certainly. However if your combo already includes a set of ported and polished big valve heads how much will you gain. Truth is a lot if you have a monster cam, intake, monster carb, big headers, high stall converter with a 4+ rear gear. However most of the cars that are street driven do not have all these extras. You would be wise to do some calculating on a computer program like comp cams 6 program to help determine what you might gain. You may be surprised that a better head will likely lose you some bottom end to only make it up on the top end. So if you give up 3 tenths off the line to make it up on the top end your net gain in performance maybe zero. For those with the extras you will see a difference. For those without a good set of heads, then money well spent. I know in my case the gain would be minimal since I have a set of well prepped J heads in good working order. You can down load the program from the comp cams web site. It lets you plug in your current combination to determine horsepower & torque and then you can throw your upgrades at it. I was surprised to see the limitations of some of the larger cams. Simply, they don't always make more power. Many times like I said you are trading off bottom end for top end power. Good Luck Doc
