I would like to tune the transmission (at least in manual mode) to hold the gears longer (no downshift) under acceleration. And preferrably quicker shifts (3rd to 2nd takes forever in particular).
What can be done?
This will become even more important once the engine has been upgrade (turbo) to 400 hp and corresponding high torque at low rpms (at which point I suspect the trans will constantly down shift 'seeing' the higher torque from the engine).
What is model of the transmission in my car called?
How will the trans handle the roughly 50% increase in power?

The designation for that transaxle is the 62TE, which broken down means 6spd. transverse mounted electronically controlled, the controller is called an NGC which is engine and trans in one unit, there are some software updates that might apply to shift characteristics from chrysler, but there is not a lot you can do with it other than that, maybe contacting FAST or BIGSTUFF but not to popular of a model for the aftermarket to R&D Iwould think, as far as handling the extra power, not on a good day!
