I have a 74 duster with a 318. i've got to replace my electron ignition that was on the car when i bought it. someone had already replaced it. what i took off was a five point-five wire electronic ignition. but two part houses show that that year car with the 318 had a four point-four wire ignition. the e.i. i took off looks like it got hot and melted the inside. i want to put the car back close as possible. should i go back with a four point or five point electronic ignition?

It doesn't matter, they both work. The extra wire is a ground wire. Is it needed? No, other wise the 4 wire system would not work. What grounds the box with the 4 wire set up? The bolts holding it to the fire wall. Doc
