I have a 1965 dodge coronet440 sw
I'm told it has original engine and it's a 318.

I am trying to sell the car.
My brother worked on it after it had been sitting in my yard since my dad died a couple of years ago.
Was able to get it running, but now has blown head gasket and water in pan.
Asking $750 obo

your 65coronet/440 most likely came equipt with a 318 poly w/2bbl carb, model 500 base eng. was 361 2bbl.early bbody vin will not denote eng. size. that info may show up w fender tag decoding

The VIN doesn't provide engine information, you need to look at the engine code on the fender tag.  The white books from GG can help you decode the fender tag.

Im the owner of a 1965 dodge coronet 440 conv. top and it says in the books that the stock engine (unless you went crazy and got the R/T package) IS the V8 318 ci with a single brl carb. (if you have consistant compression issues this is the motor u got.....trust me)

My 1965 Coronet 440 came with the 318 Poly (wide block).  Big, heavy, no power.

Now has a 440cid.  Big, heavy and plenty of power.
