The guy I bought my car off of (1967 Plymouth Fury Sport) said that the trans was leaking fluid.  He gave me the seal to fix it (Part#03878447) but he didn't tell me what the seal went to.  After some searching I found that it can either be the selector shaft seal or the kickdown seal.  What is the best way to replace these seals?  I plan on replacing the pan gasket and filters and I'd like to replace this seal while I'm at it.  Any help would be appreciated.  I'm assuming it's on the left side of the trans.

look at photos 14 and 15 in this.. for an idea of how to get the valve body out..

since the car still drives.. you might really want to take it to the quarter car wash and see if you can get a shot at the top of the left side of the transmission case... where the shifter linkage is..   clean there will make life easier..

remember.. take out only the 10 bolts with 7/16" heads.. after you take the filter out ..

when you have the valve body out..  you can drive the seal out the top...     you can pull the new seal in with a big bolt and some flat washers...

taking out the throttle valve shaft seal.... thats a little different...  i seem to recall that its an oring.. but i could be wrong..

you will also need a new filter and a pan gasket...   the kits at the parts stores have rubber gaskets in the filter kits now.. they work great...  under 10 bucks..  it also takes at least 3 quarts of fluid to bring it up... usually 4 will do it..  but more may come out.. measure what comes out so you know how much to put back..
