i have a 67 valiant and it has a 273 la engine
and i keep hearing this tick on the driver side valve cover.
so i took the valve cover off and and check the lifters and everything
it went away and now its back?

can it damage my motor?
what can i do to fix it!

yeah i just got my first mopar! wooo

If this is the 273 2 bl it will a hydraulic cam. I suspect you have a lifter collapsing. Have you tried any additives like Lucas oil treatment, or STP. These products were designed for engines with some wear, although a bandaid approach at fixing the problem they normally do the trick.  
Will the noise cause any damage? Not likely, but I would check it out further if the noise worsens to anything more than a slight tick.
