Hi I'm helping a friend who has a 68 Roadrunner with restoring his car. He bought a "Deluxe" model steering wheel with a solid black horn cap from a antique parts dealer here in town. My friend wanted to put the clear plastic cover with the picture of the Roadrunner under the clear cap... Now the problem.... He ordered what we thought was the correct cap from Year One, we got the wrong part (sent a 69-70). What they sent was a 1 1/2" round cap. My friend said what he has seen was around 4" round and fits in the center of the steering wheel... I don't know much about Roadrunners.. A trouble shooter from Year One said the "Deluxe" steering wheel was "Wood Grain", not solid black, this steering wheel is all black with about a 4" horn cap in the center... I can post pictures tomorrow. What he wants is to have a Roadrunner Deluxe steering wheel with the picture of the Roadrunner in the center... Can someone fill me in about what a "Deluxe Steering Wheel" is...
Thanks
Jerry

After looking around the internet, did the 68 Roadrunner have a Roadrunner decal on the center cap like the 69/70?

The deluxe wheel option was the 3 spoke with full horn ring and had the small Road Runner center.
The standard wheel was from the Belvidere and had a 4 inch cast center horn button.
And the correct center is 1 1/2 inches on the deluxe wheel.

Great thank you for posting that, I've seen the taller center cap with the 1 1/2" roadrunner in the middle. My friend thought the "standard" horn cap had a roadrunner on it...So he does have the 3 spoke steering wheel, he just needs the correct center cap... Thanks for responding.... Jerry

the deluxe steering wheel is the simulated woodgrain wheel, I think the wheel your talking about is the standard wheel, and has a chrome cap with the plymouth logo cast into it, watch ebay I see them alot, also the deluxe wheel has a tall vinyl cap that will be color coded to your interior, with the small plastic disk in the middle, 68 cars had a plymouth logo on it and 69 and 70 had the cartoone bird, but those disks are easy to replace as they just pop in and out. again look at ebay, search 68 roadrunner there is a lot of deluxe wheels out there both restored and unrestored expect to pay 150 up to 600 hope this helps
