Iv got a fairly stout 440 in my coronet, However I would like to do a Roller rocker set up and Aluminum heads (stealth) from 440 Source. My question is, what cam would be the best for a street strip combo and also is it absolutely necessary to switch my headers from the super comps 1 7/8" to super comps 2"? As of right now I'm running a 440 bored .60 over with 11:1 Pop up pistons, a Mopar purple shaft cam (.600) with flat tappet solid lifters, Ported 906 heads with oversized valves, Isky rockers, Edies RPM Performer intake and an 850 Demon carb. Also if some has a different combo in mind fell free to post. Thanks everyone!

the Mopar cam is very good. step up to edelb. or indy heads, good rockers like comp or harland or indy. 2" is not absolutely nec. yet, get the heads and measure the exhaust port and then measure the inside of the headers u have. I think 2" (is outside diameter) will be better. maybe go with ed or indy heads that u can use your very good for s/s rpm intake (use an open carb spacer)   for best cam we need to know rear gear

So what your saying is 440 source product is not a good choice huh? okay, well Ill sit on that and do some more research on this before I buy anything. Also to answer your question about the rear gear it's a 4.56. I had a 3.91 In before and I was turning a 12.6 at 105 with the RPM's cross in the line at about 5,800. That's why we swapped it out for the larger one. However I haven't ran it with the bigger gear. I'm thinking this gear might be too steep for the amount of power ill be making after the swap, so it's possible that I might run out of RPM's before I cross the line.. Whata think? Thanks!!

Before you buy the Source heads check the plug location. Edelbrock has angled their location and some headers will not work. TTI has a set that will work with the Ebrocks but not sure about the 440 source or if they have made the same changes. TTI will tell you strait up what will work & what will not. 4.56 may be to much gear,4.30 may be a better choice, try the 4.56 if you have it. none of this stuff will help if you don't have a good converter and trans. Turbo Action, the guy knows Mopars. You should be about 200rpm over your redline at the end lights.

the 4.56 at around 107 mph will be around 6900 rpm. no problem with the solid cam, a good carb, good valvesprings, ignition, good exhaust. rear tire size too. when U get done on the combo call barrygrant/demon carbs with your combo and get the jetting they suggest.

The 440 Source heads are set up to look Identical to the stock head. They made them this way so guys with numbers matching car could run a performance head without being noticed. Anyway, Im running a Continental 3500 Stall Converter with a build 727 trans. Thanks!
