I have a 1974 roadrunner that is being finished as we speak, but I have an issue with the stripe kit.  The stripes that were on my car (long since removed for body work) looked to be a matte black.  I ordered a kit frim Pheonix graphics, got them today, and they are more glossy than matte.  The car color is sienna metallic.  It was striped as a 1973 (early model 74 they used the leftovers from what I understand)  Did they have a matte black and a gloss black?  Do I trust the Pheonix kit?  I hear they are great and accurate kits.  Does anyone know?  I might be able to locate the build sheet, would it be on there?  Sorry, I have lots of questions about a stripe, but I want the look of the car to be close to what it looked like in 1974.

AFAIK, they were either black, or reflective black. Neither one should be what you'd call a real "flat" black. More semi-gloss. My guess is the stripes that were on your car were weathered. Because I can't recall any "Flat black" decal stripes on Mopars. Always glossy, or semi-gloss. But anything is possible.

Great, thanks.  I'm sure by the state they were in, reflective wasn't what they were.  I always questioned if they were weathered, but they looked so good, no cracks, not faded irregularly etc.  I ran the fender codes today, and it came up with "black"so, I guess I'll trust Pheonix now.  They really do look good, just wanted to make sure it was right!
