Just bought '72 Challenger that came with pulled transmission, but I have no idea what the hell it is or if it will even bolt to my 440.
On top of the transmission it says "900-4" in several different places and then on the side it says "2466900". I have googled both of these numbers and have been able to pull up nothing.
Then above the pan there is the numbers "H2538334". I googled this and found a guy selling his Cuda with a 727 that had this number but it was for a 380.
If this is indeed a 727, will it work with my 440? Is it a 727 A or B? (not sure of the difference)

The # stamped in case above pan is the # needed for I.D. (also known as P K # ) This # sounds like 1966 or 1967, but I'll check some books & let you know just what it's out of. Barry318

Your trans is a 1966 B-body and/or C-body 727 with a 361 or 383 engine. It will work. Hope this helps. Barry318

I have an A-727 B Trans that will bolt to a big block but I haven't a clue as to what year it is or what motor it was on. The numbers on the left side above the pan are J2801543 3 00962. It also has the single pin for neutral start. Would appreciate any help.
