X & J heads are the best, you say this is for a drag motor? All LA style heads from the 340/360 line are good when ported and polished. Especially with the 2.02 intake valve. However they have their limits, if you plan on running more than 550 lift the gains are limited.
So if your cam is 550+ lift the eddys are the way to go, again I would port and polish. Be sure to run an extra .5 to 1.0 comp. with the aluminum heads other wise they are a bolt on.

The iron X & J heads are definantly good enough.  I built a 360 for a friend of mine and I convinced him to buy Edelbrock heads because I thought they would be "bolt on."  Needless to say, I was wrong.  The Eddy heads were very poor quality.    The pushrod holes in the head were so far off that we had to use a die gringer to gouge them out just so the pushrods would clear...and this is what Edelbrock told us to do!  Also he bought a pair of signiture series valve covers and we couldn't use those because the bolt hole pattern wouldn't line up.
Spend your money by taking the J heads to a reputable shop and have them ported to the max and they will outperform the Eddy's by far.  A 12:1 small block with a good set of iron heads will send most any car deep into the 11's.

I had a buddy with a 340 Duster with iron J heads. This was a full blowen drag car with a roller cam. This thing ran 9.28 20 yrs ago. He was a machinest and obviously a very good one.

I had a '71 Dart a few years back with a stock bore and stroke 360 with un modified small valve "J" heads. I just re rung it. No bore job or even a turned crank. I put the 340 iron intake on it with a thermoquad. Had a Crane Max Velocity cam in it with small tube headers, 904 and 323 sure grip. I had that car runnin 12.40s so consistantly, my wife could jump in and do it.
