Just bought a 1985 dodge D-150. I have redone the interior already and now im wanting to do something to get more power out of it. It has the 360 5.9 engine in it. Any suggestions.

I have seen some headers out there but do they really make that big of a difference.

Bigger carb 4bbl. Remove power steering belt setup. It gives more power to the engine but you obviously are gonna have a harder time steering. Also get an electric fuel pump. Im not very familiar with the engine but that always helps if not already electric. Run higher test fuel. Electric cooling fan. Remove a/c belt. I did some of these things to my engine and it runs a ton better, more power definately.

is the engine two or for barrel.  in 85 they still had machanical fuel pumps but will still feed a strong engine just fine.  the headers are well worth it, a bit of advice, try to get a mini starter. you can find them on 89 and newer dodge trucks as well as V8 dakotas.  makes it easier to get the starter and headers on.  i recomend 4-bbl intake and carb, i run a holly set up.  now removing the belts, i wouldnt say to do that.  i have dyno'd engines in trucks with and with out,  i saw maybe 1 hp increase. its not worth it.  Power steering is more important, and A/C is nice on those hot muggy summer days.
