I need to remove the rear bow of my roof. The joints all seem to have a rivet type pin and there is a hole drilled through the frame running through the end of that pin. Almost like there is a drift pin holding the rivet pin in. The hole is small on one side and large on the other. Has anyone taken these joints apart? Is there a drift pin in there? Can the the drift pins be driven out from the smaller side hole? I hate to replace the whole top mechanism just because one part could be fixed is I could just get it off. Thanks in advance.

I believe there is a small pin like a roll pin that holds the shaft going through the axes. A drift pin same size or a little smaller driven by a small ball peen hammer or such should work. And if memory serves me once the pin is driven out of the shaft there will be a spring washer that keeps the joint tight. Just kkep a towel or rag under the area and should catch all the parts.

Thanks. I found solid drift pins that are 3/32". This is the max sized drill bit I could fit in the smaller hole. Just hope it doesn't slip into the roll pin. I suppose I could drill out the smaller hole and use a bigger drift. Hopefully the 3/32" will work. Thanks for the flling parts advice. I will let you know what happens this weekend. SS

The 3/32" drift pin went right inside the roll pin. I tried to drill out the smaller hole to drive in a larger drift pin and no bit I had would dent the cast metal. Decided to go for option B and leave the bow pins alone. I removed the bow where the sheetmetal part wraps the 1/4" bar and will weld up the sheet metal and reinstall the bow. Thanks for the help but these joints were not made to be servicable.
