I've got a 74 challenger.  I'd like to replace the 74 taillights and put in the 70 lights.
What parts will I need and is it even doable?

Yes it is doable.  you will need the tail panel (cut out the old one and weld in the new one) the buckets (1 for each side and a center which is the reverse light) left, right and center lenses and chrome bezels, mounting studs and nuts and a gasket kit.  I converted my 1973 to a 1970 look alike. check it out and rate it please http://rides.moparmusclemagazine.com/ride/1133693/koister/1970/dodge/challenger/index.html. There is a picture of the rear end which shows the 1970 taillights.

Your car is awesome!
we are getting close to the paint booth with ours, but  I've been thinking lately that it would really be fun to put the extra work in and have that 70 look.  Where did you purchase all of the stuff to get it done?

I found everthing i needed on ebay. In fact if you are interested i have the left and right taillight housing. Let me know if you decided to go that way and I am sure we can settle on something to get you the housings that i have.  BTW - I even put a 70 grill in mine. I was lucky i found one in reasonable shape for 200 bucks and then i reworked it.

concerning the housings.  Will I need 3?  one for the middle back up light? I'm interested in the ones you have.  What are you looking to get?

you will need 3 housings. One for the middle. How about $20 plus shipping?  I dont have the middle housing for the reverse light but keep looking on ebay they show up every so often.
Here is my email address: Ken.Oister@siemens.com Write me if you want the housings.

Ken, I hate to bug you again. I'm the one changing the 74 tail lights to the 70. The guy doing the work asked me the following:

"Would like to see one up close to determine if the panel goes in front or behind the rear fenders."

Since you have done this I thought I'd ask you.   Ger
