I have a 1977 plymouth volare with a 318 that I just swapped the manifold to a 4 barrel setup. My problem is the engine runs fine with the stock black control box for the E.C.U I figured to put an orange control box on to get better spark. The black box also seems to have melted the black rubber compound on the backside of the box but still works. Now I did buy this orange box online and was to be of good running shape. now I get it unbolt the old box bolt the new used orange box up and nothing. Engine cranks fine but no spark, switched back to old box and engine fires right up. I noticed the orange box uses 1 less pin does this matter or is this orange box a garbage part? Any help would be great. Jon

The wiring schematic between the stock black box and the performance orange box is different. They do not directly interchange.

here is the problem the black box had five pins the orange one has four.the fifth pin is a ground.make sure the orange box is grounded to fire wall or fender well where ever you have it mounted.the black box had the ground fed thru the factory harness.sand the steel under the orange box under a bolt hole and see if it starts after bolted back down
