Talkin' smack, giving suggestions, whatever you can think of, here is the place to discuss the 2009 engine Challenge.

what engine base are you guys going for this year again? even though it'd be pretty pricey, and im sure the turnout wouldnt be as large, i think a GenIII hemi shootout would be awesome!

This year, the builders are using a low-deck block as the base for the engine. All engines will use Edelbrock RPM heads.
I have been thinking about a Gen III Hemi challenge, but I think we are still a year or two away from it being mainstream enough to get 8 builders.

I would like to see these top engine builders build some 273s and 318s that will fit under the hood of a early and later 'A' body. This is the cars the young guns have. When the picture of the winner is viewed the engine stands as tall as the man that assembled this monster. The younger boys don't have challengers and 'B' bodies. Most have 'A' bobies. They save all summer to buy the parts for their cars. If the builders are as good as they think they are they should be able to build 273s-and 318s that will fit under the hood without mutelating the body. The only way to get and keep younger people interested in the sport is to have something they can afford to build so they can partisapate too. If they arn't able to partisapate then they will get burned out and deside to go green and write their congressman to stop this air poluting thing. Morris Brown Boaz, Alabama

In 2010, it will definitely be a small block build. So, with that said, let's hear what you guys want to see built.
Also, what do you think about the current coverage of the builds in the magazine?
Would you change anything is there something we're not showing that we should?
Let's hear it.

How about a 340 VS 360 competition? It would be great to compare the advantages and disadvantages [if any]. It would make for a great read and help educate the public on two of the best HORSE POWER FOR $ motors ever built by ma Mopar. Doc

well guys, how about a horsepower per cubic inch contest? We will still factor the cost into the builds, but I think this could be interesting.
What if we make all participants use iron heads?

yes do a horsepower/cubes and I will build a 275. do not restrict to iron heads, why would U, like we say-be creative. naturally aspirated, cast intakes, maybe pump 93 gas.

well guys, the 2010 rules are almost done. Small block, HP/CI, the same head for all. Anyone interested or know a shop interested in building an engine?
