Thanks to Mopar Muscle and this site!!
I am a relatively "old" hotrodder, but new to rebuilding/restoring Mopars.  Although I currently own 4 Chrysler products ('95 Dodge Ram with 5.2 Magnum and 230,000+ miles; 2004 Dodge Hemi Durango; 2005 Chrysler 300C and the main reason I'm here- a 1968 Chrysler 300 C body), my past life involved rebuilding a number of Chevy and Ford products (sorry guys!) My current project is the resurrection of a very dearly departed family member's pride and joy. Any comments or help would greatly be appreciated. The car is a 1968 Chrysler 300 convertble with about 80,000 original on the od. Top is like new, headlight doors work, body is acceptible and interior is clean for a car that sat for the better part of the last 20 years in a pole barn.
I had to replace the gas tank and fuel lines, and am currently building a replacement motor-a 440 (I'll keep the original aside). 440 Source heads, H-beam rods, KB 10.2:1 forged pistons, Comp cams Hi energy solid lifter XS274, Edelbrock RPM manifold, stock stroke steel crank, Holley 750 vacuum secondary, 727 trans.
My main question is (aside from whether this engine combination is decent!) what stall torq converter to use and what gear? I'll be driving on the street and may add an overdrive 727 that seems to be available from some of the vendors in Mopar mags. Brakes are another concern as this car is almost 4200lbs. and came with 4-wheel POWER drums. Sorry to be so long winded-thanks for any help and all the good tech I've already read!

Dalet; I also have a 68 300conv.with less miles but I put the 440 & 727 in my 74 Dodge p/up after rebuilding & `souping' them up. I still have the 68 300 body which is complete & everything works. Also have many new parts that were purchased years ago when still available. (speedo, switches, lens, mouldings, etc.) I had restored it & enjoyed it for years, but recently re-acquired the drag racing bug & this didn't fit the bill. If you need any parts you can e-mail me at barry318@hotmail.com
