Just picked up a factory stock 71 Demon 340, 4 speed, 8.75 with 3.91 suregrip. I'm looking to replace the tired TQ that is on it now. I plan to warm up the 340 in the future. Any ideas for the best replacement?

It was a good carb as long as you didn't get a backfire thru the carb! I rebuilt mine, and used it for 17 years! I STILL CAN'T BELIEVE I SOLD IT !!! I have two Dodge trucks now.

The TQ is a grate carb, ran it on on my 340 for years........unfortunately the throttle shaft ware out over time, the stip kits for them are long gone........when you start build more power, the TQ will have to gooooooo

My self i would recommend a Holley......vac secondary carb...........How much power are you planning on for this eng???

If gas mileage is not a issue i would run a performer RPM air gap dual plain manifold, 650 vac secondary Holley carb, and MPP .474/280 cam

If mileage is important, do above with out changing the cam.
