I just purchased a 1970 383 to replace thr poly 318 in my 66 Satellite.
The guy didn't know much about it but said it was a fresh build and it had roller rockers.
So I had to take it apart so I know what I've got.
It has TRW L2293 .60 over high dome pistons and 516 heads with the bigger valves put in.Also metal .15 head gaskets.
Crane 1.5 roller rockers and the cam says DRV4 that is the only marks I can find on it.
I figure the compression will be to high for pump gas and I have sets of 906,346,452 heads.
What could I do to make this thing run on pump gas?
Thanks

Sorry I don't know what the comp ratio of your pistons are.
Anyway the first thing you can do is install the blue fel-pro gaskets this will lower your comp. about a quarter point. If you have a good set of open chamber heads installing them will lower your comp. another .5 point.

sounds pretty radical, just the ticket for hot street action.Hell I think Id' dump some vp or trick fuel in the tank and have a little fun.At the bare min. ya gotta run super unlead with the open chambers anyway to get it to stop pingin or pre-detonating.Im sure you arent lookin for milage right? So run it, also if your closed chambers have 214/181 valves thats also gonna bump your c.r up not quit a .5 also. The easy fix go with some gooood fuel.
