I have a really clean 4-door 1968 Dodge Dart with a slant6.  I'm going to be putting in a 318 and 909 trans out of a 1971 Coronet in it.

I'm going to be putting a new cam and lifters in the motor.  This car is going to be a daily driver, but I'd like it to be a fun car.  (So I'm looking for something that has a little "Go-Baby-Go" without sacrificing a lot of fuel economy or driveability.)
What should I look for in a cam?
I was looking at an Eldebrock 2177 Performer-Plus Camshaft and Lifter Kit.
Specs:
# Advertised intake duration is 270 and the advertised exhaust duration is 270 degrees
# Intake valve lift with factory rocker arm ratio is 0.420 and the exhaust valve lift factory rocker is 0.420

Does that sound like I'll get what I want?

I'm also planning on putting headers with dual exhaust (2.5") on this car.  Should I put headers on with the engine out?  Any recommendations on headers?  I was looking at Hooker Super Comps, Hedman Headers, and the Jegs house brand.  Can anyone comment on the quality or ease of use of these headers?

EDELBROCK MAKES GREAT SPEED PARTS FOR MOPAR AND BRAND X ENGINES, BUT THERE CAMSHAFTS HAVE NEVER BEEN TO POPULAR, AND I DONT KNOW WHY THAT IS. I HAVE A WARMED OVER 318 IF YOU ARE GOING TO RUN THE STOCK CONVERTOR AND THE STOCK HEADS I WOULD SUGGEST YOU GET THE COMP XTREME HIGH ENERGY CAM PART NUMBER 20=223=3. THIS IS A VERY SWEET CAM FOR A 318. GO TO THERE WEBSITE AND LOOK AT THE SPECS. I RUN THIS CAM IN MY 318 AND HAVE NO REGRETS.

A bit late to this, but that above 318 thread should cover it.

Otherwise, 1 of 2 cams I can recomend or you should use there equal like speced duration @ .050 specs would be the Crane cam I currently use in my '74 Duster w/ a '79, 318.

The build goes like this and will run hi 14's easy.

625 cfm Carter
Edelbrock LD4B intake
CRANE CAM SPECED AT
272/284 (@ .050 216 - 228) .454 - .480 LIFT ON A MELLO 112 C-LINE
Hooker headers and Jegs 2-1/2 inch exhaust.
Electric fan replaced the stock one.

A stock 904 tranny and 3.21 gears in a suregrip equiped rear on stock tires. ESPO.com 1 inch over bend springs.

The next size cam "up" would also be OK for mileage and increased power. 3.55 gears would or better would be good to use as well as increased compresion with ethier cam to 9.0-1 min.
