I have a 71' swinger that im restoring and the top of the roof is host big pit holes and rust galore. I have a 72' swinger that has a great roof can the middle of the roof pan be cut out and stich welded back into the 71'?
Will the panel loose its shape once out? Thanks Travis

Cutting just the center out of the roof to replace it--you got guts, I'll admit that. I would think that replacing the entire roof section would be easier. I'm afraid that once you start cutting and trying to replace just the center, you'll get less than good results, and give up on the car.

i agree with RBolig it would be much easyer to replace the whole roof cutting it from the seams of each panel than just cutting the center out.

I though maybe i could take a short cut of sorts..Oh well. Would anyone happen to have a diagram of what it looks like or how it was done from factory? I have most of the lead out of the seams front and rear but is it just spot welded in? Thanks again Travis
