just purchased a 87 d350 360 auto and the tranny is pouring fluid out the front of it. i found a guy selling a 727 and motor but it's a 225 slant... my question is will the 727 off the slant work on the 360 in the truck?
any help with this would be appreciated...
thanks in advance

No different bolt pattern between 6 & v8's
But check and see if the trans the guy is selling isn't a v8 trans, you never know, if it is a v8 tranny your in business.

How does one tell if the tranny is a v8 trans? The tranny is currently bolted to the 225 slant 6 and out of the vehicle. The 225 has a blown head gasket but was running with the the 727 when installed. Does this mean its not a v8 trans or are there identifying marks on the trans housing (or other means) identifying it as a v8 trans?

If it's bolted to a six that says it all right there.
V8 trans has the pop out for the starter low and to the driver side.
The bell is also a lot bigger than one for a slnt 6.

If it's only pouring fluid out the front, is it the front seal leaking? Does the transmission work? I would just replace the seal if it's only leaking.
Sometimes you just gotta say...
