it looks like the front roof pillars are rusted on my project car. i have seen replacement parts for almost everything on an E body car except the pillars. what are people doing to repair rot in the front pillars??  

If the rot is only at the bottom of the A-pillar, replacement pieces are available from companies like AMD. As far as I know, if the rot is in the area between the roof and lower portion of the pillar, you'll either need to find a used replacement, or fabricate some.
