I am trying to swap from a 4.7 to 5.9 in my 02 dodge ram and i am wondering if anyone knows if anything will swap from one to the other, the 5.9 came out of a truck the same year. Any advice would be appreciated.

I am unhappy with the performance of the 4.7, it's lack of power is problematic for me, i think the 5.9 would be better for me, unless there is a way to get a lot of power out of this 4.7, any ideas?

I know Superchips has just introduced a power programmer. You won't get as much power increase as say a cam swap and other stuff, but I've always gotten good results with their programmers, maybe that's a good place to start--especially if you're not ready to do a full-on performance build.

Other than a "cold air kit", I don't think there is much available for the 4.7

You might check with Hughes Racing Engines. They did do a bit of 4.7 development work and had larger throttle bodies and so on. The new 4.7 is vastly upgraded and puts out 310 horses now. You may be able to retrofit some or all of the upgraded parts-again, call Hughes. I imagine this would include pistons, cam, heads, intake and exhaust as well as the computer and wiring harness. Maybe a wrecked '08 for a complete engine if you can hunt one up. I like the Hemi myself, but the new 4.7 sounds like a decent piece. Good luck.
