Hi all, My names Shawn, I live in Ontario Canada and im very very interested in findin a 70-74 Plymouth Duster to build. Most likely going to be going with the 340 wedge. Sounds like good engine and very common so hopefully parts easy to find. Im going to start with an engine build up.
I just was wondering if anyone had suggestions when choosing wat year and engine.
thanks all!

Good luck finding an affordable 340 Duster, if you do find one, the best yrs. were from 68-71 why? forged crankshaft, and higher compression, plus the 68/69 came with the x-heads, and the 70/71 came with the J heads, both considered great heads for the 340 or 360 engine. Good Luck.

Drmopar, what`s the difference, between, x and j heads. are`nt they really the same, with the exception of the embossed x near the sparkplug? I have a 69 x engine, and also has numbers ending in j on the intake runner.
