I have a 71 440 roadrunner that had a 18 spline a 833 in it but I blew it up. I couldn't find another 18 spline trany for a decent price and I found a 23 spline that was behind a 383 and I was wondering what all has to be changed to use this trany until I can find another 18 spline or I may put in a 5 speed. Thanks for any help you can give me.

The clutch and make sure the retainer fits the bell housing. Call brewers if you want and they will have the 18 spline shaft, counter shaft & parts you need, if not, stephens performance.

Jamie Passon at Passon Performance is also a great four speed guy that can help you.

Some people are like Slinkys; they're not very useful, but fun to watch when pushed down the stairs.

I think passon performance would be the ones to contact. their parts are stronger then the factory replacements. and i think they offet a kit to convert your 23 to a 18 spline regardless of pilot bearing size. Considering you grenaded an original 18 sline I think you need the strength.
