HELP!!! I just replaced the springs on a 1968 RR. I went with SS springs purchased from Summit. I alos got new u-bolts. Her eis the problem. I get the u-bolts over the axle well enough but I can't get them through the shock plate. They seem to be to wide even though they are just like the old used ones that I removed. I was able to get only one u-bolt out without bending it out of the 4. That u-bolt is as wide (albeit a little longer than the replacement ones but only but a very small margin). Is there a way to clamp these closer once over the axle or do I just have incorrect bolts? I need help on this as I am in need of getting this car to roller status so that I can load it on a trailer tonight.

Install two nuts on a new u-bolt and bend it into shape by installing it in a vice or hitting the nut area while holding the u-bolt on the ground. Do this until the u-bolt will fit through the shock plate. This may take several attempts since the u-bolt will try and return to its original position.
