70 Road Runner, 440+6 with Kiesler 5-spd, stock manifolds and 3" exhaust. Tried Hedman headers - they hit the driver torsion bar, sent'em back. Hooker Competition fit, kinda- they fit with the original manual steering box but not a power box like they are supposed to. The collector on the passenger side looks like it is positioned right, but the driver's side collector is too far to the rocker and too high. Tried S-shaped extentions, but I have 3" exhaust and they still hit the crossmember on the driver side but are cool on the passenger. Motor mounts all bolted up fine. Had the motor in and out a few times, tried to jack it up and rotate it, but it always slides back to the same position. Far as I know, the car had never been hit. Any clues as to why this happens and suggestions to fix it, or am I just stuck with the manual box and a trip to a custom exhaust shop? BTW can't "massage" the headers, they are ceramic coated. Thanks!

I'd make sure the Hookers are the right part number, I've used Hooker super comps on B-bodies with power steering and haven't had a problem.
Ceramic headers can still be "massaged", you might scratch the coating, but using wood or a very smooth ball-peen you may still be able to massage them slightly without too much damage.
I'd check the part number first.

Thanks! These aren't super comps, they are just competitions meant for street/strip. 5903HKR, listed for 383/440 in 67-74 B-body. I'm thinking if the driver side of the motor was lower the Hedmans would have cleared the torsion bars and the Hookers would fit better - hindsight is 20/20. I guess I can dent the one tube to clear the power steering box if I tried, but to try and bend the collector would probably really screw them up. My only thought now is to massage the S-bend collector extension - the mill is pretty stock 9.2-1 compression with stock cam - so a slight dent there probably won't affect back pressure much.
Any other ideas?????

I would be double checking the motor mounts to make sure they are correct.

Yes, motor mount`s were an issue with my a body, with tti headers that were supposed to fit, and did fix the problem.

TTI header don't fit like they say when it comes to big blocks especially in abodys. You still have to use shims to make them fit an la in a abody.
