Does anyone know why the w/s wiper switch clicks on and off when the key is switched on? Also the amp gauge shows a discharge and charge accordingly.  Glenn

Electrical problems are difficult to assess when typing on a computer. However I would suggest installing a good ground wire on the wiper motor to the body since this is a common problem.
As far as the alt. gauge, it doesn't sound to be unusual. The amp. gauge on early mopars often fluctuate irratic especially at idle if you have a large duration cam, or a heavy load on the charging system, lights, etc.
To confirm if the charging system is working right you need to check for total amp. output, also check reg. for Voltage output. If your charging system is not functioning properly I would recommend upgrading to an electronic reg., with a late model dual field alt. This system is much less likely to flucuate the gauge, and is a more reliable system.
